How did you know you were ready for another dog?
Hey! We are looking into getting another dog and wanted to get some opinions, how did you know you were ready to get another dog?? We want to approach this right because we don’t want to feel overwhelmed, we already have two and feel like adding a third dog would be amazing.

To be honest, we never really felt hesitant about getting a new dog because we love our dogs and we are a dog-loving family. Maybe planning and making sure you can handle three dogs before getting a new one may help but if you feel like it's the right choice 100%, maybe you should consider it. I wish you luck it getting a new dog and I hope he/she fits right in :)

I think as long as you have the space for a third dog and you are happy to take the time to integrate a new dog with your other two, you're good to go! Nothing better then a new furry family member :)

I never really thought about being ready or not ready for another dog. I already had a Rottweiler and happened upon a catahoula leopard puppy that was living in filth and was in poor health. I took in the puppy, nursed it back to health and loved it with all that I had. As the puppy got a little older, I quickly realized that this puppy was not compatible with the rottweiler. There was an age difference but the bigger problem was the breed (bred for hunting and herding). This pup had endless energy and endless destructive power. I didn't so much mind the destruction to the house and everything in it as I knew in time she would be trained. The problem was that she would pester, nip, and try to herd the rottweiler all day long. This incredibly patient rottweiler was fed up and although she never retaliated against the puppy, I knew the day would come so I sadly gave the puppy to a young man who was looking for that kind of dog. Fortunately, it was a great match between the two and the young man and the now grown puppy have the tightest of bonds. I won't choose to have more than one dog again unless they come as a pair... or if I find another one that needs saving!
