Crate Training Puppy Pom

Hi all, I am welcoming my baby Kai on Friday. I have a crate and am planning not to use potty pads to train him. Can I put a blanket in the crate to make it comfortable for him? Thanks

Katy Lauren

Absolutely! Make the crate a super comfortable, fun space so your puppy wants to be in there. If you can put in one which has familiar smells on from his litter mates even better

We tried this with my dog and it didn't work putting blankets in. Dogs dont like to stand in their pee and the blanket helps to absorb it So In the beginning don't use a blanket and later on if you crate Kai at night. You could add one in later for comfort. In my opinion though in the beginning I would not sure blankets

Hello! And congrats on your new baby Kai. Yes, making the area they spend a lot of time in comfortable is essential. You want your puppy to be comfortable in their rest area. With crate training it is essential that you create a routine for you puppy to go potty. Especially when you aren't going to use potty pads. This help them understand that at certain times they will go potty outside.
