Biting

Our 9 week old Cavapoo bites us all the time. She used to lick us but now she licks and bites. We don’t want her to lick us anymore bc we don’t know if she’ll bite. We’d love some tools to help stop this bad behavior or redirect it. We’ve tried giving her things she can bite on but she still bites us.

Our puppy has begun to do the same. The second he bites us we say "no!" and put another toy in his mouth to divert his attention. Today he continued to do it even after I did this approach so every time he did it, I picked him up and put him in the bathroom for a time-out. After a while, he realized that every time he bites he will go to time out and he has stopped... for now :)

Hi! I experience the same with my French Bulldog. Here is the process I implemented to stop him from biting. There are a few tools and techniques you can use. Redirecting their biting is an effective tool - offer a toy or chew bone instead and praise them when they bite on the toy instead of your hand or clothing. Consistency is also crucial. Everyone in the household should be on the same page and consistently redirect the biting behavior. Mixed messages can be confusing for your puppy. Positive reinforcement can also be an effective tool. Reward your puppy for good behavior, such as when they stop biting and start chewing on a toy, using praise and treats. These techniques can help your puppy learn to redirect their biting behavior and encourage them to repeat positive behavior.
