What breed would you recommend for an older lady who is recently widowed and just needs some added comfort and protection. She is able to care for and walk a dog under I'd say 60ibs

I think either a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or a Shih Tzu would probably work out well.

I agree with Shih Tzu :) I have two personally, Shih Tzus are very loyal and affectionate, and they are known for their calm and gentle nature. They are also relatively low maintenance in terms of grooming.

Thank you I will look into those. Shih Tzu's are very good dogs but I need something a little bigger for her to feel that level of safety
