Over grooming causing sores
Has anyone had a dog that licks themselves so much that they cause hair loss and a minor skin irritation? Other than addressing the possible boredom and anxiety issues, what has worked with getting them to stop? What have you put on the sore to heal it that is safe in case it is ingested? I found coconut oil is good but sometimes they like coconut oil and lick even more!

Mine used to do this and it would create hotspots - we would make sure to stop her every time she tried to lick it. We also got a cream from the pet store which helped with the healing process, if you aren't around your pet to stop the licking then a cone might be your best bet!

Do you recall what the cream was that you used? I'm not opposed to using medicine / creams but I just want to make sure that if they still lick it that whatever is used won't cause illness or a sick tummy.
