I have a almost 9 month old Australian Shepard/Shitzu mix puppy who is not very confident in himself. Due to his lack of confidence I have noticed he can be pushy to my other (older) dogs. Almost like I’ll push you before you can push me type of thing. He is definitely the lowest nember in pack of 3 dogs. I noticed that this lack of confidence also makes him a little more stubborn in training as he needs to assert himself almost in the I’ll do it only when I want to. He is small like a Shitzu but definitely has personality and energy of Australian Shepard. Any ideas on how to build his confidence so I can stop some of the bad behaviors I’m noticing?

My girl Jada is now 4 months old,we’ve had her for a little over a month.
When we first got her she had a few accidents in one corner of our living room. Since then she has been pretty much house broken except in that one corner. We used a ezime pet stain remover but if we are not paying attention to her she will try to go in that corner. any Ideas?

We have had our 2 OEB pups for 3 days. They are 11 weeks old. We look forward to beginning our training sessions. Has anyone had 2 puppies at the same time? Would love to hear success stories, pointers…to help us with our journey

I have a 10 week old lab and her name is Shylo. She has a lovely nature and is a sweetheart. I am a little concerned with her jumping and biting. I know she is a puppy but I need some direction on how to positively train her not to jump or bite.

Hi everyone, I gave my 9-week-old puppy a little chew treat tonight. As I went up to pet him, he got really snappy and concerned about me. I know this is natural behavior as he came from a litter of 10 and I can imagine the competition was fierce! Any tips for this?

Hi everyone! Our new pup will be starting puppy school on Saturday and we are soo excited! He is 9 weeks and we’ve been dying to take him out of the house. I’m just really nervous about illnesses like Parvo. The puppy school instructor has emphasized that all pups should have at least their first vaccination, which we do. But surely a dog needs to be completely vaccinated before socializing with other dogs? Would you risk taking your dog with only one vaccination? And surely if you wait too long to socialize them then you miss an important window of opportunity.

I learned today that my friend’s dog has developed a fear of going swimming. He’s a lab and pit bull mix and still fairly young, maybe around 1 year old or so. My friends have a pool and from the time the pup was 8 weeks old, he had loved going for a swim in the pool. Then they had a cookout recently and some people and other dogs were there and they were all in the pool at some point too. After that day, the dog will not get into the pool and acts scared of getting in. He still loves the water and I can tell he wants to get in but just won’t. Even taking him by the pool, the dog tenses up and starts showing signs of fear. No one knows what happened or if anything happened at that gettogether to change his behavior. Any thoughts on how to help the pup get over his newfound fear and start enjoying swimming again?

Still, having trouble getting my dog’s attention when training them huhu What are some methods to teach dogs to disregard distractions and stay attentive to their trainer during training sessions or competitions?

I am looking for suggestions, tips, ideas, anything that may help. My husky is TERRIBLE with pulling when walking her on a leash. Along with training, I’ve also tried a few different collars and harnesses. As a puppy, I tried the no-pull harness with the front clip. Didn’t work, she only pulled harder… like she dug in and pulled as if she was pulling a sled with people and cargo on it. At the advice of a trainer, I tried the choke collar. She still pulled and didn’t seem to care that she was choking herself. He then suggested using the prong collar. I’m not a fan of it but I did try it, 1st in the yard because she doesn’t pull as bad in the fenced yard. She pulled maybe twice, and then I never had a problem with it again as long as the prong collar was on, even when we were out of the yard. I switched back to a regular collar and she pulled just as bad as ever. I recently got another highly rated no-pull harness… she STILL pulls almost non-stop. It’s extremely unpleasant to take her on walks and I can feel it already taking a toll on my hands, wrists, shoulder, etc. I really don’t want to use the prong collar again but I feel like it may be my only option as training and other collars / harness do nothing once we leave the yard. Any ideas?
