Vaccinations before puppy school

Hi everyone! Our new pup will be starting puppy school on Saturday and we are soo excited! He is 9 weeks and we've been dying to take him out of the house. I'm just really nervous about illnesses like Parvo. The puppy school instructor has emphasized that all pups should have at least their first vaccination, which we do. But surely a dog needs to be completely vaccinated before socializing with other dogs? Would you risk taking your dog with only one vaccination? And surely if you wait too long to socialize them then you miss an important window of opportunity.

Congratulations on your new puppy! It's great that you're enthusiastic about starting puppy school. When it comes to vaccinations and socializing, it's essential to strike a balance. While it's important to ensure your puppy has received at least their first vaccination to minimize the risk of diseases like Parvo, early socialization is also crucial for their development. Consult with your veterinarian to assess the risk factors in your area and discuss the appropriate timing and precautions for socializing your puppy.

I would be nervous about starting puppy school without having all of the vaccinations. Perhaps if you have friends with vaccinated dogs, they could come visit you or you can visit them in a safe, clean environment. That way they can start socializing without risk of disease or illness.

Thanks for the great tips. I will visit the vet today and ask what they think of this. Very nerve wracking!
