Any good tips for luring in a lost and panicked dog? We saw a car driving next to a dog that was running along the road looking completely lost last week and would have loved to have helped but didn't want to scare it even more!

Definitely use caution when trying to interact with a dog that doesn't know you or may be scared. Even the friendliest of dogs may bite when they are scared. If trying to call the dog over doesn't work, you can try to toss treats to it and see if it will get comfortable with your presence. Talk gently and get lower to the ground so you won't be viewed as a threat. But again, use extreme caution. I had a dog get loose once and she was very friendly. A man called her and she ran right up to him wagging her tail. He grabbed onto her and when she realized that she couldn't get away, she did give the man a nasty bite. She had never shown any signs of aggression prior to that or ever again after.

Food and time. Sit on the ground and throw food out a little ways from where the dog is, then a little closer to you. Most dogs like this are hungry and scared. As the other person said use caution because a scared dog can bite
